Freezing technology
Cryogenetics has developed innovative cryopreservation techniques for milt from Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar), Cod (Gadus morhua) and rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss). This new technology is currently being used both in industrial production and in conservation programs.

Cryopreserved milt has many advantages and possibilities, and allows:
Conservation of genes from valuable males for wider use
Crossing of year classes - reduced breeding costs
Worldwide exchange of genetic material
Out of season egg production
Diversity in breeding
Establishing breeding programs by exchange of genes within the total population
Results
Cryogenetics' unique cryopreservation method is based on results from trials with more than 2000 fertilization batches, including more than 300 000 eggs. Fertilization results achieved with frozen milt from Atlantic salmon and rainbow trout are comparable to that of fresh milt.
