Cryogenetics has been emphasizing these criterias when establishing cryopreservation protocols aiming that the use of cryo-preserved milt should give the same results as the use of fresh milt. Today this is the case for Atlantic Salmon, Trout, Chinook and Coho Salmon.
The cryopreservation that takes place in Cryogenetics is a 7 step procedure. Non-optimal performance on the various steps will add to a lower fertility percent and hence make the technology less attractive for commercial use. For the salmonid fish types it seems to be a common opinion that stable fertility rates in the range of +85% eyed eggs is considered to be a successful production.
Cryogenetics has delivered these types of fertility results for most of the clients.
