Logistics: Biosecure and effective

Cryogenetics has laboratory and storage facilities in Canada, Chile and Norway, serving the Americas, Scandinavia and the UK.

The collection, freezing, thawing and fertilization processes can be manned by Cryogenetics or internal staff by your own choice.

Storage service

Storage options are on-site or as a Cryogenetics monitored storage service with on-demand distribution to local fertilization sites. Large scale storage units makes storage more cost effective due to purchase gains on nitrogen and containers.

Distribution that works

Distribution goes by air, rail or road in standard containers that keep the preserved milt for several weeks. The system is developed in agriculture where it is widely used since decades.

Biosecurity

Preserving and distributing genes in milt form can be a more biosecure method than depending on fresh eggs. There is no time limit for use and survival, and there is less chance of any disease being transferred from fish to fish or company to company.

Cryogenetics’ biosecurity processes are as strict as or stricter than the requirements of the countries where it operates. None of the cryopreservation facilities will handle more than one company’s milt in any one day, and steps will be taken to ensure against fish to-fish contamination. At night the entire facility and all of it’s equipment are disinfected, ready to receive the next customer the next day.

Mobile preservation in Canada

On the Canadian west coast Cryogenetics has set up a 20-foot mobile cryopreservation trailer that has been set up on the Canadian west coast and can be operated across Canada and the U.S.
